# How to stay in control while the AI builds your page for you

Handing a page over to an AI assistant can sound like it means waiting for a finished result and hoping it guessed right. That’s not how it works in practice — the assistant stops to ask, at several points, instead of deciding everything on your behalf.

## It asks instead of assuming

Partway through a request, you might get a multiple-choice question — pick one option or several, with a recommended one already marked — and you can also just add a comment instead of picking, or delegate the decision back to the AI if you genuinely don’t have a preference. Color decisions work the same way: when there’s a choice to make, you pick a color or a palette from what it proposes rather than it locking one in silently.

## Confirmations, not surprises

Any action gets a confirm-or-cancel step, and a destructive one — deleting something, for instance — comes with a distinct, more visible warning instead of looking like every other confirmation. Nothing that can’t be undone happens without you explicitly agreeing to it first.

## Reviewing a batch, not accepting it whole

When the assistant proposes several changes at once, you don’t have to take all of them or none of them — you get the list, can uncheck the parts you don’t want, and confirm only what’s left. If it added four widgets and you only wanted three, that’s a checkbox, not a follow-up request to undo one.

## Forms and wizards, when the request needs more structure

Some requests need more than a yes or no — the assistant can hand you a pre-filled form to adjust instead of asking you to describe every field in a sentence, or walk you through a step-by-step wizard that combines options, colors, forms, and confirmations in sequence when a single request needs several kinds of input to complete.

## You can also just stop it

If a request is going somewhere you didn’t intend, you can stop the current turn instantly, or cancel the whole process with a confirmation step. A message that’s still queued up, waiting for the assistant to be free, can be cancelled before it’s even sent.

## The takeaway

None of this requires reading the AI’s mind correctly on the first try. Between guided questions with recommended defaults, confirmations before anything destructive, reviewable batches instead of all-or-nothing changes, and the ability to stop things mid-way, staying in control isn’t a separate skill from using the assistant — it’s built into how it asks.
